The brand speaks primarily to young African Americans—particularly college students and early-career professionals—who are passionate about creating tangible change but seek clarity, connection, and credible leadership. YFBL’s role is to channel that passion into informed action by fostering a community rooted in advocacy, education, and progress.

THE MISSION

 

Founder Alexis Boss envisioned Your Favorite Black Lobbyist as more than a political podcast or commentary platform. She sought to build a brand that felt human, engaging, and community-driven—one capable of connecting beyond traditional political discourse.

The goal was to position YFBL as a credible yet approachable voice: a platform that encourages meaningful dialogue, fosters connection, and inspires participation without alienating its audience. To support that vision, Alexis required a strategic creative partner capable of translating mission, message, and momentum into a cohesive brand presence that could grow with the movement.

THE RESULT

 

Through partnership with I Am ART Agency, YFBL’s vision was translated into a clear, cohesive, and recognizable brand system. The work established a strong foundation that allowed the organization to connect authentically with its audience while maintaining credibility within advocacy and public-facing spaces.

The resulting brand presence supports engagement across digital platforms, strengthens recognition, and reinforces YFBL’s role as a trusted voice for social justice and environmental awareness. More importantly, it created a framework that allows the brand to scale its message while remaining aligned with its mission and community.

Our Process

 

The brand strategy for Your Favorite Black Lobbyist was developed through a deep exploration of purpose, audience, and tone. The process centered on four guiding principles: authenticity, education, creativity, and transparency.

Rather than leading with aesthetics, the strategy focused on understanding the audience’s motivations, challenges, and values. Storytelling was intentionally shaped to balance clarity with relatability—blending insight, empowerment, and moments of levity to foster genuine connection.

This approach matters because it positions the brand not simply as a source of information, but as a trusted movement-builder—one that invites participation, builds confidence, and encourages sustained engagement.

Visual elements—including typography, imagery, and layout—were systemized to ensure consistency across platforms. This balance allows the brand to feel recognizable and trustworthy while remaining accessible to a younger, socially engaged audience.

These decisions are critical in establishing long-term brand recognition. Consistent visual language builds familiarity, reinforces trust, and ensures that each interaction with YFBL feels intentional and aligned.

Visual Identity

The visual identity for YFBL was designed to communicate both credibility and approachability. A vibrant, diverse color palette was developed to reflect the energy, optimism, and multidimensional nature of the mission, while maintaining a level of professionalism appropriate for policy-adjacent spaces.

Creative Direction

Creative direction played a central role in translating strategy into expression. I Am ART Agency led the full creative execution for YFBL’s brand photoshoot and commercial, ensuring alignment across concept, production, and final output.

This included sourcing creative partners, directing styling, hair, makeup, and environment, and overseeing lighting and composition to capture moments that felt authentic and authoritative. Script development and commercial direction were guided by the brand’s messaging framework to ensure clarity, confidence, and emotional resonance.

This level of direction ensures that every visual asset—from web imagery to campaign content—works together to tell a unified story rooted in purpose and credibility.

To support a cohesive brand experience, YFBL’s digital and physical touchpoints were designed as integrated extensions of the strategy. The website was developed as a central hub—intuitive, visually aligned, and structured to encourage exploration, education, and action.

Physical materials, including business cards and custom graphics, were designed with the same attention to clarity and consistency, ensuring the brand maintains a strong presence both online and offline.

This integrated approach strengthens trust, reinforces professionalism, and supports YFBL’s ability to build meaningful relationships—transforming awareness into engagement and engagement into advocacy.
